About Betty & Basil

       Betty and Basil specialises in fun, bright, comfortable and unique children's clothing, made to order and handmade in West Yorkshire. Sizes range from premature baby to six years and they are all handmade by myself from my home studio.

        I am Chelsey, married mama of two amazing children Eva & Billy. As a mum I understand the need for comfortable, unique clothing in a high quality fabric that lasts. I run my business from my new garden studio and after four years this is now my full time job. I have always worked with children and began sewing clothing for my nephew Jesse as a hobby. I left my job as a teaching assistant in July 2020 to give my full attention to Betty & Basil and it is the best decision I have made. I love my job and seeing all your children wearing my clothing is the best feeling.

        Betty and Basil was named after my children's favourite toys as babies, my daughters doll (Betty) and my son's cuddly rabbit (Basil). Nature plays a big part in my fabric choices and trying to help the environment as much as possible along the way and being as close to zero waste as possible is very important to me. Nearly every print I stock has animals or nature on the print somewhere and with that I decided to start my Betty and Basil forest. Every time a romper of any kind is purchased I pay to plant a tree to help with reforestation.
